My work involves chair parts, recomposed in stronger compositions, usually involving triangles, to wage the good fight. The genesis of this work was the notion of women having “no seat at the table”, symbolized by a chair, and recomposing that chair to be a stronger
version of themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Midwesterner who relocated to the deep south to take a teaching position, I have spent my life creating and teaching about Art. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My textiles have been shown all over the world, and I am now engaged in making work in an entirely different visual language. After moving and renovating an old house, old wooden windows and chairs became my raw materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether in my former medium or my new, the work focuses on women and ways they deal with their lives as they unfold. My symbolic woman is now a chair, supported and modified in relation to events. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
