Britt Hunt, Indian pigments on garden sculputures,
Columbia, SC 2020

These garden interventions were created during the Social Distancing time spent in our house: The Friday Cottage, here in downtown Columbia, South Carolina. The pieces pieces were painted several times over the course of the pandemic and washed out by rain, wind and climate in general.

The pieces are all recovered or repurposed materials or objects and colored with dried Indian pigments brought from the country, with the exception of a the female blue head created by Anastasia Chernoff a few years ago.

With time and rain the color deteriorates and fades away, the pieces go back to their original coloration, probably in time for the end of the quarantine. A reminder of how things in life are circular and despite the perceived change things will be back to a new normal.
