Detail “Limites”

From the Series: Límites

“Limits” is the result of a research resulting in a series of paintings and sculptures that highlight the social disparities prevalent in different parts of the Mexico City and its surrounding areas. While one section of the city’s population lives in high-rises and high-end neighborhoods, built over the past two decades; the other side of the city shows a reality completely different filled with impoverished abodes in poor areas, as if we were talking about two absolutely different realities, two isolated worlds, that seemed divided by an (invisible) wall. These artworks present the issue playing with it in a rather whimsical way, trying to vanish the inequalities and turning it into a hybrid of both worlds, presenting both wealth and extreme poverty in a single piece.
